NUSIM, a leader in turnkey projects in the field of radioactive waste, has successfully completed the commissioning of its innovative X-ray inspection device for radioactive waste drums at the NECSA facility in South Africa. This state-of-the-art system, specifically designed to inspect the contents of radioactive waste drums, aims to identify unwanted elements and discriminate the type of post-processing required for its handling, processing, and subsequent storage.

The NUSVAC, thanks to the motorized adjustment of the suction cups, handles sheets of different sizes with the highest regulatory safety standards
The existing NUSPIDER drum handling device coupled to the NUSVAC, gives it additional turning capability. In this way, the same overhead crane handles the waste drums as well as the sheets used to stabilize the different storage levels.
NUSIM completes the FAT of the ITER FWP cleaning device

NUSIM has completed the Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of the cleaning device for the ITER First Wall Panels procured by Fusion for Energy (F4E), the EU organization responsible for Europe’s contribution to ITER – the biggest international fusion experiment. This cleaning device will be used in the last step of the manufacturing process of the First Wall Panels. The manufacturing facility contractor Fusion Business Leadership witnessed the FAT with a representative of F4E. The device performs a deep cleaning of the panels in order to remove grease, milling liquid, traces of beryllium and graphite. The cleaning is performed in several steps, including front and rear cleaning with builder and demulsifying additives, front and rear rinsing, manual lance cleaning and automatic drying.

NUSIM, S.A. completes factory and load testing of 8 handling equipment for IPM (installation for the production of monoliths). Among the equipment stands out a NUSPIDER equipment for handling drums with a load capacity of up to 3,000 kg, 5 equipment for handling concrete containers with a load capacity of 20,000 kg and an shielding bell handling equipment with a load capacity of 40,000 kg. During the tests, load tests have been carried out to certify the equipment. In these load tests, up to 50,000 kg have been applied in 2 points of the handling equipment.

NUSIM, S.A. has finished with the commissioning of the Stabilization/Solidification plant for radioactive NORM ashes. This facility is part of the turnkey project developed by INTECSA Industrial. The scope of work of this turnkey contract includes the installation of the handling, treatment and disposal system for NORM waste. These natural materials reach a radioactivity level higher than the limits established by competent organisms so it shall be treated like radioactive waste. This waste material is generated during drilling operations at the oil and gas fields exploitation of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) affiliated companies in the United Arab Emirates.

NUSIM, S.A.Has completed the segmentation of the old reactor lid of the José Cabrera N.P.P. within the Dismantling and Closure Project (PDC) that ENRESA carries out in Almonacid de Zorita (Guadalajara).
The replacement of the lid of CN Jose Cabrera’s vessel was made in the 21st refueling (year 1997). The old lid was stored in the pit 2 of the Waste Warehouse no1.
